POSITION CHANGE
Nov. 12th, 2012 12:09 pmLike it or not, this Game is not unchanging in the slightest. Things aren't as simple here as in Shibuya, but they're also more sincere. The Composer certainly can restore the dead to life... but it won't free them from this strange world-shifting curse. It appears everyone here is tied together in one form or another.
But that doesn't mean you have to remain locked in the role you play. The Reaper's Game is dynamic, and the higher-ups are well aware that they, too may have to make changes with all of these strange new players and reapers. That's what this post is for! If you ever want to change from a Player to a Reaper or a RGer or any sort of permutation of such, you simply have to reply here.
A few warnings, however!
- The most obvious warning is that entering the Reaper's Game requires a RGer to die. In addition, a RGer cannot directly shift into a Reaper's position - this requires at least one week in the game as a Player. However, if you have a specific reason for wanting to bypass the Game, let us know and we can try to work something out.
- Players may only become Reapers or RGers after surviving the 7th day of a Week. Much like the above, if you have a really good reason for wanting to sidestep this, feel free to try to work something out with us.
- Leaving the Reapers is a one-way trip. If you're a Reaper and are made into a player or RGer, it's incredibly unlikely that you'll be let back in. After all, you likely only left because you didn't actually want to be a Reaper, or worse yet, the Reapers kicked you out. Why should you be let back in?
- Finally, this is not meant as a way to get around the app limits. We would still prefer that people keep only one Player and one Reaper at any given time. RGers, of course, have no such restrictions.
With those warnings in mind, if you want to switch your role in the game, please copy and paste the following below:
Also, if you wish, we have a character spreadsheet that you may make changes to in order to make your new role and statistics known to the game. This is just for fun, though!

PLOTS/SUGGESTIONS
Jul. 30th, 2012 11:55 pmGot an idea for the game at large? You've come to the right place! We at Wonderful Worlds love suggestions! In fact, we highly encourage you to give us your feedback as far as ways to improve the game, settings you'd like to visit in the future, as well as any ideas for missions and other plots.
Also, having the role that they do, RGers are allowed to request missions that are centered around their character. If they have a problem that could be sorted out by Players (such as a particularly negative mood that should be attracting swarms of Noise), feel free to point that out to us and we just might make a mission out of it!
Comments on this post are screened so as to avoid spoilers for the rest of the game. We will try to give you a head's up privately if we're planning on using your idea.
And on a 1x1 basis, feel free to request things like NPC interactions from the mods at any time.

PIN TRADER
Jul. 6th, 2012 01:47 amLooking to swap pins? You've come to the best spot around!
I'm currently seeking this pin:
In exchange, you can have one of these!
Our old deals are still available too! If you have one of these:
You can get one of these!
I now have a very special pin called the Harmonizer! You can have it in exchange for this:
By the way, this one works a bit differently from all the other pins! You need a partner to use it, because its psych is combination attacks that hit everything and restore your health! It's also upgradable! For additional scarletites, you can buy up to 3 stickers to add extra combo attacks.
...Which is good, because you can only use each attack once per week! Make it count!
To make a trade, fill out this form...
... And wait for my approval, of course! Oh, but don't worry if you don't like what you see now. I'm sure I'll have more stuff later!
NOISE LIST
Jun. 13th, 2012 03:38 pmNoise Types
Noise are the minor enemies that Players will be required to erase throughout the game. They can be found by scanning the area with the Player Pin, or summoned by the Reapers. With the exception of Pig and Taboo noise, anyone may NPC them at their leisure.

-Frog-
Basic attacks include jump attacks and blowing harmful bubbles.
More high-level frogs can absorb damage to recover health, or inflict poison on contact.

-Sprog-
Occasionally frog noise will spawn these minor noise, typically 8 at a time.
They latch on to a target and drain their health. Watch out - they have a tendency to swarm!

-Bat-
Attacks with spinning saw wings, and can drain health.

-Carcin-
Attacks with crab claws. Some Carcins can even make shields or boomerangs with their claws.

-Corehog-
Attacks by shooting its quills at the target, which explode a few seconds later.
It can also expand its quills from behind to impale a target.

-Wolf-
Basic attacks are lunging and biting the target,
while more high-level wolves can charge at high speeds, leaving flames in their wake.

-Grizzly-
Basic attacks are powerful slashes with their claws,
while more high-level grizzlies can do a somersault crush and a power-boosting howl.

-Popguin-
Tend to attack in groups. They slide on
their bellies toward the target to knock them down.

-Jelly-
Tend to appear in groups. Jellies send lightning bolts to each other,
which are deadly if intercepted, and jellies that receive the lightning bolts can clone themselves.
They can also reach out and grab targets with a tentacle, draining health.

-Shrew-
Burrows in the ground to become invulnerable,
then either jumps out at the target while spinning like a drill,
or tosses bombs out. Can create new tunnels with its drill attack.

-Boomer-
A noise that attacks with a lot of jumps, whether it's a flying kick at the target
or jumping high in the air to come crashing down on their head.

-Mink-
These flying noise can make a whirlwind that renders them impervious to attacks.
They slash out with their wings.

-Raven-
These flying noise attack by swooping down on their targets with their beaks.
Be careful when dealing with them, because they like to steal pins!

-Rhino-
Strong and durable noise that attack by launching targets into the air
with their facial horns. Higher level Rhinos have much larger horns.

-Shark-
These noise disappear into the ground as if it were water,
and leap out to crunch down on the target. Contact with their fins will also do damage.

-Drake-
An enormous noise with many powerful attacks, including a spray of harmful red energy balls,
swinging its gigantic tail, and spitting dark fire.

-Mammoth-
Enormous noise that creates massive earthquakes by stomping the ground.

-Fox-
A trickster noise that specializes in teleportation and transformation.
It can transform into other types of noise and use their attacks.
Likewise, it can change into a replica of the target and copy their attacks.
However, this is not the limit to its skills, so expect the unexpected while facing a fox!

-Pig-
Special noise that will almost always try to flee battle instead of attacking.
They drop rare pins, and as such, will only appear as part of a mini-event.
Taboo Noise
As the name suggests, this is a forbidden class of noise. Taboo noise attack Players and Reapers alike. They are impossible to run from, and very difficult to damage without the light puck. Even when the game is on a Solo noise plane, some may require a partner to defeat.
So what do I get for defeating noise?
Pins! The types of pins that regular noise drop are Psych-less, including currency pins and metals (Scarletite, Tektite, Adamantite, Oricalchum, Rare Metal). Taboo noise drop Dark Matter and Shadow Matter.
Currency pins can be handwaved, and you can reward yourself with a Metal for each time you log out a noise fight, or Dark/Shadow Matter for logs against taboo noise. Metals can be traded in at the Pin Trader for Psych pins.
( Major NPCs )
All other NPCs played by mods fall under this category. This list may be updated as the game's story progresses.
Pin Trader Shizuka "Seeker" Kawada
An avid pin collector whose nickname comes from her obsession of swapping pins with others.
Other Reapers Yui and Takehiko
These guys are pretty unfriendly, even for Reapers. Don't expect to meet them without a fight.
Other Players ????
Who knows? It's not possible to bump into every player in the game, so unfamiliar faces tend to crop up from time to time. They undoubtedly have their own stories to tell, though, and if no one else completes the mission, it is generally assumed that one of them will. That's no reason to shirk responsibility, though!
RGers Too many to name
It's good to be alive.

What is the Reaper's Game?
The Reaper's Game is a challenge to be undertaken by people who have died for a chance to come back to life. It is designed to put the Players' imaginations to the test in order to deem who is worthy of revival. The current Reaper's Game, which spans dimensions, is the most complicated iteration possible. It seems to have been fabricated to expand one's horizons in a more literal sense. It even affects the living, pulling them in for the ride as the game hops between worlds!
GLOSSARY
RG/UG
The "Realground" (RG) and the "Underground" (UG) are two planes of existence co-inhabiting the same physical space. Simply put, the RG is the plane of the living. The UG, on the other hand, is the plane of the dead, where the Reaper's Game takes place. However, as stated, they both are a part of and interacting with the same environment. To use an example of a way the UG and RG can interact physically, if a Player happened upon some RG people playing Ouija, they could come over and move the planchette for them.
A person from the RG is not actively involved with the Reaper's Game. However, they may still play a passive role. Many missions revolve around influencing the RG or helping to solve RG people's problems. Additionally, RG people are in the dangerous position that being alive can sometimes present. Noise will instinctively flock to RG people with negative emotions, and their minds are an open book to the UG folk. RG people are also the most affected by dimensional shifts.
Still, it should go without saying that there are benefits to being alive. RG people are not bound by the rules of the Reaper's Game, so they enjoy more freedom to do as they wish; whether it's throwing loud parties all the time, going on a killing spree, or doing nothing but goof around, there is no jurisdiction from the Reapers... until they die.
Players
Players are the participants in the Reaper's Game, the deceased who have staked their entry fee for a chance to come back to life. They are stripped of their original powers and instead given pins that manifest imagination as psychic powers. The goal of a Player is to complete missions that are issued to them by the Reapers over the course of a week, after which their worth will be judged.
Reapers
Reapers are, as you might expect, the somewhat-sinister group of characters that run the Reaper's Game. They operate beneath the Composer and Conductor, and have their own heirarchy of Officers. Reapers are able to freely traverse between the UG and RG without anyone really noticing, and all of them can summon Noise. Their purpose in the game is to oppose Players.
Reapers can block important paths with invisible walls, then set conditions to be met in order for them to take the wall down. This condition can be anything as long as it doesn't conflict with the rules of play. They can challenge them to a game, or have them erase noise - or even something as simple as bringing the Reaper's favorite snack.
However if your Reaper prefers a more active stance, they can always take measures to ensure players get erased - mess with their heads, send noise to attack them, and otherwise make it difficult to complete the mission in any way possible. The only thing a Reaper cannot do is directly attack a Player. Also, in this game there is no class divide between wall reapers and harrier reapers. A starting Reaper can fill out whichever role they prefer at any given time.
Psychs and Pins
A "Psych" is a psychic effect that activates with the use of a Pin, the essence of the Imagination-based combat that the Reaper's Game oftentimes revolves around. However Pins themselves should not be confused for Psychs: There are plenty of Pins that do not have Psychs at all! For more information on Pins and Psychs, please check out the Pin List!
Noise
Noise are beings created entirely of Soul, bound to either a Reaper's pin or the negative emotions of people in the RG. They are monsters that have no free will and exist only to multiply and consume the Soul of people in the RG by possessing them. Noise possessing a person drag down the emotions of the possessed, creating a feedback loop of increasingly negative emotions. However, a person who has been freed from Noise will experience a rush of euphoria. More information on Noise can be found on the Noise list.
Pact
A "pact" is a bond between two Players (or less commonly, two Reapers.) Characters that are pacted share a "light puck", which is a representation of the pacted's synergy in the form of a ball of energy passed between each other that gives a boost of power to the one holding it. Characters in a Pact are also able to use their healing/defensive pins on each other if they have them, and with a fusion pin, can perform powerful combo attacks. In this RP, Pacts are sometimes necessary to erase Noise, but not always.
What happens when characters arrive?
RGers will simply awake in a random location in whatever world the game is currently taking place in, not having any idea what happened. They will have a few items they didn't have before: A Ouija board, a Cellphone (if they didn't have one of their own), and Tin Pin Fire. The psych cannot be used, but they can use it to play Tin Pin Slammer!
Players will meet the Conductor, who will explain the Game very briefly, and then collect the Entry Fee. But only some Players will keep their memories of that. It is up to you whether you want them to be informed, or just toss them into the fray with no clue. After the meeting with the Conductor, they wake up in a random location of the world they were transported to. Shortly after, their cell phone will receive Mission Mail in the form of a text message, and a timer will appear on their hand. Players will receive a Player Pin, a Cellphone (if they didn't have one of their own), and one Pin from the Pin List.
Reapers will remember meeting the Conductor, having the Game explained, declining to play, joining the Reapers, and going through a brief training period before being released into the Game with the others. They will earn a pair of skeletal wings, which are real and allow them to fly if they like. They also receive a Cellphone (if they didn't have one of their own), as well as the pins used to summon Noise. A newbie Reaper that didn't come with any powers (a normal human, for example) will also be allowed to choose a pin from the Pin List.
Now sectioned for your convenience!
What kind of characters can I app?
All kinds of characters! Wonderful Worlds is a panfandom game, which means you can app from movies, books, TV, anime, manga, comics, and anything else you could think of. We also allow Original Characters and characters from Alternate Universes. We do not allow real people (living or dead) to be apped, but exceptions will be made for fictionalized versions of themselves, such as Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or the cast of the Samurai Warriors games.
What kinds of Original Characters?
We will allow OCs from stories of your own creation, as well as fan characters, with a few stipulations on the latter:
Fandom OCs must not be closely related to any canon characters from whatever fandom you're basing it on. So let's say you're apping a Harry Potter fan character - they cannot be Draco's relative, Lupin's old friend, or anything like that. They'd basically have to be a character having their own life that just happened to be set in the same world.
What kinds of Alternate Universes?
Pretty much any kind. AUs that existed in canon, as well as what-if situations, canon fusions, species swaps, fanfics, CR AU, it's all good. However these characters will be judged with scrutiny - we don't want to see AUs where everything has changed to where the character has become unrecognizable as that character. That will be considered OOC.
Additionally, AU characters ARE allowed to exist alongside each other in the game. It's allowed to play Kingdom Hearts Cloud alongside Final Fantasy Cloud, or whatever. HOWEVER, they cannot be played by the same person. Do not come here saying you want to play ALL THE CLOUDS!! You will be denied.
That said, there is currently no cap on how many AUs will be allowed, but that could change if people abuse it or the game gets too much confusion over a single "person".
Can I app characters from TWEWY?
Yes! And what's more, they won't even have to start over from scratch.
However a good deal of them will require an NPC app. The ones that will require NPC apps are basically anyone who has powers other people will have to work for, for example a Cantus form. Neku would also count because of using all the pins ever. Joshua also counts of course, though we'll probably have to talk him over with whoever's apping.
The ones who can be apped normally are any Player besides Neku, lower ranked Reapers who don't have Cantus forms (ex. Uzuki, 777), any RG character, and "Another Day" characters. However for characters that were erased in canon, we'd prefer you to take them from a canon point where they have not been erased.
So does my character have to be dead to be a Player or a Reaper?
Yep! But we are very flexible with this. If your character didn't die at any point in canon, you're free to handwave it or make something up.
Do animal or non-human characters have to be humanized?
Generally, no!
But for Players, some changes may still have to be made because of the entry fee. They always have to be nerfed to everyone else's level. So, if you app a Kaiju or a giant Mecha as a Player, they'll have to be sized down one way or another. If you app a vampire as a Player, they won't have any cool powers that come from being a vampire, so basically they'll be like pale humans with fangs (the undead thing is kind of moot since Players are a lot like ghosts.)
Of course, if you would like to humanize your character for any reason, it's certainly allowed! There's some weird mumbo-jumbo going on in this Game, and non-human characters might find themselves changed to fit the most prevalent species around, which is to say humans.
Is there a character limit?
Yes and no, depending on their class. Besides your ability to make AC, there is no limit to the number of RG you can play. However, because of the commitment it takes to play a Player or a Reaper, we'd prefer it kept to one each per mun. Additionally, we will only allow two characters per mun from the same canon, and they absolutely cannot be closely related to each other.
How does time flow in the game?
1 day IC = 1 week OOC. Your characters may be crunched for time, but we don't want you to be!
What's the activity requirements?
Pass the Activity Checks! Which are more like a roll call now, where you just show up and say you're still there. AC currently takes place between IC days 3-4, and IC days 7-1. In other words, every three to three and a half weeks.
How does communication work?
For the most part, the interaction is predominantly live-action, which is to say, face-to-face. Everyone does receive a cell phone if they didn't already have one; however, there is no "network" of phones. Instead, characters are required to have an IC contact post set up in their journal. Characters may exchange cell phone information with each other to initiate the use of these posts, but otherwise, they must interact in person. Players need not worry; their phones will work as well as everyone else's. Feel free to make creepy ghost calls to people in phone booths!!
Learning other peoples' phone numbers can be handwaved - the biggest thing we're going for is for folks to get out there and communicate in person.
Is there money in this game?
Sorta, but we don't want to have to keep track of it. Just assume that your character will enter the game with their wallet or whatever they use to carry money. In any stores with the reaper decal, all forms of currency will be accepted and credit cards will likewise work. So just handwave it and assume your character is as rich or as poor as they would normally be. Noise drop pins that can be exchanged for money, as well as mission rewards, so you can take that into account as well.
How can I get more pins?
For Players, pins are rewards for completing objectives. For example, clearing a wall will net your Player a new pin. If a Reaper sends a noise after the Player and they defeat it, that will also reward a pin. And of course, completing the mission will too.
Similarly, RG characters will have the opportunity to gain pins through mini-events, although while in the RG the pins are only for fun and fashion; they cannot be used for combat, strictly speaking. We hear there's a popular game that makes use of them, though.
Most Reapers will not earn battle pins because they will be allowed to keep canon powers instead, however for characters that canonically had no combat skills, they will be able to gain pins by the same basic coin - completing Reaper duties (putting up walls, heckling players) will earn it for them. Additionally, all Reapers will have a library of Noise pins at their disposal.
So is this a Power-Loss game?
The answer is, again, dependent on class. Players that have powers in canon must give up their powers as part of their entry fee and rely solely on pins. Reapers and RG, however, will get to keep their canon powers with the exception of any game-breaking stuff. Obviously no powers that will let you escape the RP, but for another example, because the dead are supposed to go to the Reaper's Game, any kind of necromancy will not be allowed. Observing the Game from the RG or communing with the "spirits" are entirely okay, just don't magic their bodies back to life, okay?
Is it a stuff-loss game?
Not quite! They won't have everything they've ever owned, but characters will be able to keep any items that were on their person, such as a purse or a stuffed animal or a weapon. If your character has canon hammerspace, they can keep that too. RGers, in particular, can also bring something like a vehicle - the key is whether or not something can be transported.
However, only pins work on noise. If you want to use your weapons against them, you'll need a pin that can be used along side it. Examples of this are Beat's shockwave pin turning his skateboard into a weapon, and Shiki's Psychokinesis pin turning Mr. Mew into a weapon.
So what's stopping our characters from leaving?
Each Reaper's Game area will have permanent invisible walls that are impossible to break without a high-level keypin (which Players and low-ranking Reapers will not have access to.) They keep all participants of the Reaper's Game trapped within that area. As for RGers? Time and space are factors, but it's technically nothing! Go ahead and explore the whole city, or whatever you want to do. If you're on a familiar world, you can even buy a ticket home!! Of course, that won't stop you from being dragged to the next place a week later, so you really will have to ask yourself if it's worth the time and money.
What are RGers supposed to do?
They have a passive role in the Game. Players may be called upon to interact with them in a number of ways, and they may also be affected by Noise. But strictly speaking, they do not have any responsibilities or things they're expected to do. The good part of that is an RG character basically has a free sandbox to play in within each world the game shifts to, whereas Players and Reapers may have to focus more heavily on the mod plot. RG is a good choice for people who want to run their own plots, or even just have a place to play casually.
Can my character die/get erased? How does that work?
Technically, death is final in this game. People die when they are killed, after all! If a RGer meets their end somehow, they'll wake up the next in-game day in the Reaper's Game, missing their entry fee and having a starter pin to help them get going through the week.
Erasure is a bit more permanent, though; typically, getting erased is permanent unless the Reaper or Noise that caused it to happen was incredibly sloppy; such cases are one in a million, though. We'll typically use erasure as an explanation for Player/Reaper drops, but if you want to actually erase your character, talk with the mods about it. After all, there's a million universes out there, one of them's bound to have an answer.
My character has a pet/pokemon/animal companion. Can they come with me to the game?
Once again, Players get the short end of the stick here - they're recently dead, after all, and their beloved friends wouldn't exactly come with them, would they? In addition, if they HAD, they might even be taken as a player's Entry Fee. Reapers will be handled on a case-by-case basis, given that they exist both on the RG and UG planes, and RGers have no restrictions whatsoever there.
Can Players cheat, attack other Players, etc?
It's possible to do so, but remember that the Composer sees all, and may not approve of such actions. Depending on the severity of the offense, one runs the risk of losing their entry fee, being forced to play another week, or even erasure. Playing by the rules is a lot more lucrative than breaking them, in general.
How long does each Mission last?
While each Player does ICly get a timer on their hand (or hand-analogue), we're incredibly lenient with the time frame. Typically we'll give a general indication on the mission itself (A "Very Short" mission may be less than ten minutes, a "Very Long" one could be a few hours or the entire day), but we'll leave the sense of urgency up to you guys.
What happens to Players at the end of a mission?
Downtime. Unlike in the main World Ends With You canon, Players do not black out after the completion of missions. They can do whatever they want. Get something to eat, chain-battle Noise, meet other players, it's all good!
What about coming back to life or joining the Reapers? How does that work?
Any Player that has been in the Reaper's Game one full Week from beginning to end will be given the option to come back to life or join the Reapers - unless you don't want them to be given the option, of course. Not everyone can win, after all! However, coming back to life doesn't allow you to escape the world-jumping; it just lets you hang out on the RG and not have to worry about the Reaper's Game unless you get killed again. Remember, though - it has to be a full IC Week, beginning to end; if you join the game (or die) in the middle, you've got longer to wait!
So what's this "entry fee" have to be? Do I really get it back after one week?
Just like in the game, the entry fee into the Reaper's Game is that which the Player holds most dear. It can be a skill, a cherished thing, or even a facet of your personality. It's even possible that it will mess with your memories! Generally, your entry fee will not change if you are in the Game for multiple weeks, meaning winning a game will return the fee to you, only to remove it once more. However, if you have evidence that your character's opinions have changed since then, feel free to let us know, and we'll help you work something out.
I want to use all the pins ever, just like Neku! Can I?
We're not going to enforce it as a rule, but it's noted that typically, most Players only have a handful of Psychs they can use, or even fewer than that. In addition, thinking about what limitations your character would have helps flesh them out better in the game. In general, the amount of psychs (and in turn pins) a Player can use is a show of both their creative energy and their raw power, and they tend to match the character's abilities in life. For an example, someone who was a marksman might be better with various ranged attack pins, whereas someone known for their speed might be good with Velocity Attack psychs. If you need help figuring out what psychs would work with your character, feel free to ask the mods!
Can Reapers attack each other, cheat, directly attack Players, etc?
Reapers can do just about anything to harass players save for directly attacking or erasing them. Send noise, use psychological warfare, whatever you want! However directly attacking Players - or attacking other Reapers, most of the time - will get you kicked out, which will make you the Player everyone hates. Not advisable, but possible.
Do Reapers still have a quota they have to meet for erasing players?
Not... exactly. Since there's no definite "harrier" and "support" Reaper roles, Reapers just need to show that they are consistently in action somehow. On the other hand, the Reaper's Game is meant to challenge players and erase those who cannot meet that challenge, so if too many Reapers are just setting up walls or going about their own lives, the higher-ups might get a bit upset...
And you won't like it when they get upset.
I started out as a Reaper but I don't think it's right for me/my character! What do?
The people in charge of this strange Reaper's Game realize that, while they give some people an immediate spot in the Reapers based on their position or actions in their home worlds, it's not a good fit for everybody. As of such, they won't raise a fuss if you wish to return to the RG or even attempt the Game as a Player. In addition, those who don't do their job or break the rules will find themselves forcibly ejected from the Reapers, forced to be a Player.
Either way, it's a job you either quit or got fired from, so it's incredibly likely that they won't let you back in if you change your mind.
Can I use my powers to cause mayhem and destruction?
This is a huge grey area because of two specific rules in the Reapers: you can't directly attack Players unless a mission states otherwise, and it is absolutely forbidden in any circumstance to attack RGers with the intent of adding more people to the Reaper's Game. As of such, it's probably better to keep the carnage under control unless you want to get in trouble with your bosses. Then again, part of villainy - and creativity - is finding ways around those rules...
APPING
GENERAL
